Learning
Writing
Writing with confidence, fluency, stamina and understanding.
What we intend
By the end of Year 6 we intend that all of our pupils write with confidence, fluency, stamina and understanding; have an interest in words and choose vocabulary carefully for effect; have a sound grasp of English grammar and punctuation; and apply spelling rules and patterns accurately.
We also expect children to have correctly formed, fluent and legible handwriting, to write in a range of fiction, poetry and non-fiction genres, and to plan, draft, revise and edit their own writing independently.
Writing grows out of high quality texts. Children study a model, gather vocabulary and ideas, practise the skills they need and then write at length for a real purpose and audience.
