A mastery approach to mathematics, building fluency, reasoning and problem solving.
Our mathematics curriculum follows the national curriculum and is taught daily in every class. Children build fluency in number and calculation, reason mathematically about relationships and patterns, and solve problems by applying what they know to unfamiliar situations.
Concrete apparatus, pictures and diagrams are used alongside numbers and symbols so that children understand the mathematics behind the method. Times tables are practised regularly, preparing children for the Year 4 multiplication tables check.
Our curriculum documents set out exactly what is taught in each year group, and teachers assess and adapt so every child is supported or challenged appropriately.
