Starting School
How we help new children and families settle happily into school life.
Starting school is a big step, and we take time to get it right. Once places are confirmed, we invite families to an induction meeting where you will meet the Reception teacher, see the classroom and hear about a typical day.
Children visit for taster sessions in the summer term, and our staff visit nursery settings where they can. Children who are already with us in Little Gems move up knowing the staff, the building and their friends.
In the first few weeks we focus on routines, friendships and confidence. Your child will need a named uniform, a book bag, a water bottle and a PE kit. If anything at all is worrying you, please talk to us.
